Our History

Founded in 1974 by Eric and Zelma, Hanleys is built on the attention to detail, service-orientation and humble nature of the Hanley family. Now owned and operated by the next generation of family members, siblings Lyndal Barnes and Warren Hanley, and Lyndal’s Husband Gary Barnes, Hanleys continues to offer the excellent service it was built upon.

Humble beginnings

Prior to establishing Hanleys, Eric Hanley worked for a Queensland-based chemical company. With customers always front-of-mind, Eric had a knack for offering the right cleaning products for the right application, regardless of brand. His sales figures favoured third party brands and didn’t match their agreement of 70/30 (own brand/third party brands). So long story short, he was laid off.

Opportunity & growth

Eric and Zelma saw the opportunity to go into business for themselves, where they could provide the right solution for the customer, regardless of brand. Hanley Industrial Enterprises (HIE) was born on the 24th of February 1974 and for its first year Eric and Zelma ran it from their humble abode at Kippa-Ring QLD.

From humble beginnings, big things grew. Today, Hanleys continues under the leadership of Lyndal, Warren and Gary and runs with the support of their dedicated team.

Company milestones

Starting in 1974 by Eric & Zelma Hanley, as a supplier of industrial wipers & chemical compounds, Hanleys now employs over 28 staff and have been delivering cleaning solutions to predominantly B2B markets for over 48 years. Operating from our warehouse and office facility at Virginia, on Brisbane’s North side.

We use our own delivery trucks and vans for quick delivery within the Brisbane Metro area. Our success can be attributed to our comprehensive range of high-quality cleaning products, expert knowledge, experience and value-added customer service and our team dedicated to providing complete solutions for your cleaning needs.

Our product range services all of your cleaning and hygiene needs, making Hanleys your “complete solution” for cleaning supplies. Beyond high quality products which include the latest cleaning technology and environmental and biodegradable product ranges, we also offer a range of services including site auditing, staff training on chemical safety and regular servicing of chemical dispensers to ensure economical dosing and cost efficiency.

Our fully equipped on-site workshop, plus a mobile workshop for service & repair of cleaning machinery means you never have to worry about finding spare parts and accessories for your cleaning equipment. We sell and service a large range of cleaning machinery, including vacuums, scrubbers & steam machines.
